The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that quarterback Jalen Hurts is doubtful to play in their upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints due to a shoulder injury.

If Hurts is unable to play, Gardner Minshew is expected to make his second consecutive start.

Hurts participated in practice on Thursday, his first session since the injury, but was limited in his participation. Head coach Nick Sirianni commented on Hurts’ performance in practice, but did not officially name a starter for Sunday’s game.

Jalen had a good practice yesterday and went out and did some things very well,” head coach Nick Sirianni said. “Still going to sort through all those things. Haven’t decided anything yet.”

He added: “(Hurt’s) health is always taken into consideration first and if it’s safe for him to be out there.”

It has been reported that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts sustained an SC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder during the team’s Week 15 game against the Chicago Bears.

The injury kept him out of the Eagles’ 40-34 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the following week. Prior to the injury, Hurts was having an MVP-worthy season, setting personal records in completion percentage (67.3%), passing yards (3,472), and passing touchdowns (22).

The Eagles’ success with Hurts at the helm has led them to a 13-2 record, the best in the NFC.

They can secure home-field advantage in the playoffs by winning one of their final two games.
